More communication skills explored

Last time we were discussing the possibility of a person with dementia having trouble saying what he wants. He just can not find the right words. He is not doing this to be difficult or be a burden. It is the disease. It has destroyed the part of his brain that allows him to express himself. It is extremely frustrating for him too.

So just gently offer suggestions to what you think he is trying to say. Ask questions that require a yes or no response.

Try to interject some humor. Remember laughter is the best medicine.

What if the person cannot understand what you are trying to tell him? Then what?

Next ime I have something special planned.

However I will reveal how to get a person with dementia to understand you soon. So keep on visiting this site for this and other valuable information.

Of course, visit my sister site for even more….
