How to stick to New Year’s resolutions(part 7)

We have been talking about an extremely important New Year’s resolution, that of exercising more.

As I am sure you have heard time and time again, “Exercise is good for you”.
I have been exercising for years, but it was not easy at first. Once I did it for about a month at a rate of three times a week, I started to feel better. I actually looked forward to the good feeling when I was finished. For me that was enough motivation . Now I exercise every day. I find the days I least feel  like exercising are the days I feel best when my workout is over.

I find I like to exercise in the morning before I go to work. I am just too tired at the end of the day. However it may be different for you. You need to experiment a little and not give up if your workout time or method of exercise do not suit you.

Karen, one of my avid followers likes to do housework as exercise. That works for her. I, however, could never do housework as exercise.

I must exercise at a gym. I find exercising at home too distracting.

Find your exercise nitch.
Then bring your exercise level to 30 minutes at least three times per week. Increase gradually whatever way works for you. Do not give up.

After a month or so you will start to feel better as long as all other aspects of your life are fairly stable.

Remember exercise is a great stress release and escape

    Yes, exercise is very important - I hadn’t really thought about it as a way of preventing/delaying dementia before, but I have noticed that my concentration is better and my brain seems to work better after an exercise session, so I guess that is yet another reason to keep at it. Now that I have a mini-home gym, I really have no excuses!!!
