How to stick to New Year’s resolutions(part 3)
The topic for improving your chances of NOT getting dementia is EXERCISE. Studies have shown that those who exercise for a half hour doing moderate exercise decrease their chances of getting Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia, significantly.
So then how are YOU going to design an exercise plan that you will stick to?
I suggested starting small. Exercise 10 minutes one time a week. Choose the same time and day every week. Make it like taking a pill that you have to take at the same time every week.
What if you do not like to exercise?
Here are some suggestions to making exercise something you want to do
Have fun
Perhaps doing activities you did as a child may appeal to you
Here are a few suggestions:
Jump rope-Remember the rhymes you said when you were a kid.
This works particularily well if you have kids or grandkids.
Other activities that you will enjoy that might bring back memories and get your heart pumping are….
